Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity, was founded in 1903 by seven women at the University School of Music in Ann Arbor, MI. Formed to "uphold the highest ideals of a music education" and "to further the development of music in America", it continues to provide musical and educational resources to its members and the general public through its 219 college chapters, 119 alumnae chapters, and 115,345 total initiated members.

The International Chapter was established in 1988. At the present time, the chapter has approximately 90 members, located in 35 states and 10 countries.
